Breakfast at Boma: Why the Long Lines?

On this trip, we stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge – home to my favorite breakfast buffet, Boma. After running the Dark Side 5K on my 41st birthday, I was able to indulge in some African specialties as well as All-American items.

Kiddo was having NONE of it…he’d been up since around 5AM that day, didn’t go back to sleep even for the sitter. He didn’t want to eat and was zoned out on YouTube kids the entire meal. When he DID eat, it was only to use his gluten-free, egg-free Mickey waffles as a delivery mechanism for syrup.

Again, I really don’t like buffets primarily for this reason – we simply don’t get our money’s worth. Even on this particular day, it didn’t seem like a good return on investment. The lines were long, kid’s attention span was incredibly short, and we were just plain pooped from a few early mornings in a row.

I will say that the chef who walked me through the buffet was lovely and did make special waffles for the child; but I was really surprised how packed the place was and how long we all ended up waiting in line for food. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that at Boma before!

We’ll certainly go back to Boma at some point, but I think I’ve had my fill for a while.
