October 2017 Trip Report (Part 5: Fri-YAY and the Hoop Dee Doo Review)

In case you've been living under a rock, here are links to Part 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Trip Report.

Part 5 starts now.

Friday morning started with breakfast at Chef Mickey's. You guys. The food was so good and the characters were at our table one after the other, rapid-fire. Got to see them all quickly (think Speed Dating fast) and then enjoy the food. I mean, really enjoy. I'm so glad that I moved us from a lunch at this location to a breakfast. It was the perfect start to our day. Aaaaand I may or may not have hoarded some danish in a plastic bag for later.

After breakfast, we headed over to the Magic Kingdom for some rides. This, of course, began with a big-time Mommy fail. I don't know how or why I had it in my head that there was a boat from the Contemporary boat launch over to Magic Kingdom. It would make sense to have one, but after 15 minutes of waiting, we were told no such luck.

I had snagged and moved around a few FastPasses, so we hit a bunch of rides in a short period of time. Of course we had to ride the Walt Disney World Railroad. Have I mentioned that His Majesty LOVES TRAINS?

On Friday evening, we took the boat from the launch at The Contemporary over to Fort Wilderness because that's where the boats actually DO go. Ha. The plan was for Ronan to enjoy a pony ride but I was surprised to learn (while on the boat via the app) that Tri-Circle-D Ranch is only open from 10am-5pm. So no pony ride. Bonus: the campsites has a great playground that Ronan was able to enjoy while we waited for the 6:15pm Hoop Dee Doo Review.

And enter FUN. This show is worth every single penny and the cost over and above the dining plan (assuming you're on the dining plan). The jokes are corny (my favorite kind of jokes), but the food is delicious (enter plastic bag for fried chicken and cornbread), Chef TJ made sure Ronan got a special egg-free dessert...but the BEST PART WAS THIS RIGHT HERE!!

After the show, we were the last three guests who were able to squeeeeze onto a hay ride that went all through the Fort Wilderness Campsites. There were more Halloween decorations than you could shake a stick at, plus we learned about the bat house where the smart folks at Disney house 3,000 bats whose one and only job is to eat bugs. They really do think of everything!

All the hoop dee doo'ing and hay riding made for another late night, but who needs sleep? Stay tuned for the next installment of the October 2017 trip report, the last day of vacation.
