Be Our Guest at a Beauty and the Beast Themed Dinner
Reader, we moved into our new house in late January - and it's been an adventure. Not a "Maurice lost in the woods" type of adventure, but certainly not your ordinary turn of events.
With COVID and our super-busy schedules, we've actually been eating most meals at home these days. But we were getting stuck in a rut, big time. So I wanted to revisit the theme meals we'd been enjoying before the holidays and getting ready for the big move.
Since the movie is set in France, I focused on French food. Nothing fancy - just the basics!
Movie: Beauty and the Beast (the original, animated movie)
Drink: Sparkling cider in lieu of Champagne
Entree: Steak frites with dijon mustard sauce - I just made sirloin steaks in the cast iron skillet and used Ore-Ida extra crispy fast-food style fries
Side: French onion soup (used Campbell's in a can)
Dessert: French apple cake
Decor sourced from local Mom on Facebook marketplace; glass candle holders from Dollar Tree painted gold to look a bit more like the Lumiere character and topped with white votive candles from Dollar Tree. I purchased a white plastic table cloth, white paper napkins and 'hold' plastic cutlery, but ended up throwing away the table cloth (it was too big for our table), and since we were having steak, stuck with the 'gold' forks to eat cake.
